About Us
History:
The Rockford Area Museum and Historical Society (Society) was organized in August of 1983. The first meeting was held in October in the banquet room of the Harvest Moon Café. The purpose of the organization is to "collect and preserve the history of the Rockford Area".
Rockford is a town of about 500 people nestled in a rural grass and wheat farming area. The largest city near us is the Spokane Valley, just 20 miles up the road on Highway 27.
The school district facilities are located at Freeman, just 7 miles north of Rockford.
Today:
The Society has three museum locations. The Pioneer Museum is located at 10 S. First Street; the Military Museum in the former Edward Leehan American Legion Post 165, 140 W. Emma Street, and the Farm Museum occupies space adjacent to the Rockford Park on the SE Spokane County Fair Grounds.
Pioneer Museum: Open Friday & Sunday- Memorial Day through Labor Day, and during the FairFarm Museum: Open during the SE Spokane County Fair, the third weekend in SeptemberMilitary Museum: Open upon request
